Pendleton

Founded in 1790, the entire town of Pendleton is on the Register of National Historic Places. Fifty buildings pre-date 1850, including Farmer's Hall, which stands dramatically at the center of the charming town square. The town is known for its Spring Jubilee the first weekend in April, its two antebellum plantation homes open for tours, and its dramatic array of dogwoods which bloom just in time for the Jubilee. Not far from the square, Liberty Hall, a bed and breakfast, also serves a formal dinner. For casual fare, nothing beats the homemade breakfast and lunch at the Pendleton Cafe and Coffees Company, which also serves as a gallery for local artists.
