“Celebration of Freedom” Event

Independence Day is just around the corner and there are so many events to help celebrate!
One event that is very appropriate is the “Celebration of Freedom” event at Cowpens National Battlefield on Saturday, July 1st. This day-long event has many family programs plus rich in historical information. You can take a guided battlefield walk, with 18th century weapon demonstrations and ranger talks. The park will also show their movie “Cowpens: A Battle Remembered” on each hour from 9am to 4pm in the museum. There is also a fiber-optic map that shows the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution!
At 1:15pm, there will be a special reading of the Declaration of Independence and, if you let the ranger know, you may read a section as well! There will also be a children’s tent for some hands-on fun! You can roll some musket cartridges, write with a quill pens and more but no fear, this is for children age 5 and up so even adults who are interested are welcome to join in!

The battle that was fought there helped turn the direction of the America Revolution so no better place to be to celebrate our nation’s freedom and independence!
