Falling in Love with Fall!

It may be the cooler weather you like or perhaps the fact that football season is here…but no matter what, we all can enjoy the beautiful changing of the leaves during the Fall season. Here at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we have a front row seat to some of the best Autumn foliage! There are many ways and places to enjoy this display put on by nature.
One of the all-time favorites is to take a leisurely drive. South Carolina’s Highway 11, also known as the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway, is a great start to your excursion. Along this route, you will not only see the Fall leaves but some waterfalls too! A popular stop is Wildcat Wayside Falls – you don’t even have to get out of your car but it is worth the break to stop and enjoy.
Another way to get up close with the changing leaves is to go on a hike! You can choose to hike to one (or several!) of the numerous waterfalls in the Upstate or go for a grand view, such as Table Rock State Park. How about Paris Mountain State Park? With close proximity to Downtown Greenville and yet all the joys of being in nature, this may work well if you have a busy schedule and want to be close to town.
Another fun but also productive idea? Go apple picking! One option is just a few miles from Chattooga River in Mountain Rest, South Carolina – Brysons Apple Orchard (1011 Chattooga Ridge Road, Mountain Rest, SC 29664).  Here you will find more many varieties of apples to choose from. If you are craving that fresh apple but lack the time to gather them yourself, no problem as they have many ready to purchase when you get to the orchard. A little further towards Greenville is Beechwood Farms in Travelers Rest. At their “U-Pick” and roadside market (204 Bates Bridge Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690) you will have plenty to choose from! Feel free to check their website for more on what is in season and available to pick or purchase.
No matter how you enjoy this season, there is so much to appreciate here in the upcountry of South Carolina!
