Downtown Greenville Holiday Events

Ready for holiday fun? Downtown Greenville comes ALIVE during the holiday season! So let’s plan our your holiday schedule!

The biggest event of the area has to be The Poinsettia Christmas Parade. It’s the grand kick-off for all things Christmas! For over 75 years, this parade has been wonderful spotlight for local talent.  There will be parade winners for various awards, such as best float or best dance group.  Who will get your vote for People’s Choice Award? This year, the parade starts at 6pm on Saturday, December 4th!

Unable to make the parade?  You can still enjoy the Christmas splendor of Downtown Greenville. Not only will “Ice on Main” [link to JW.com blog post] still be operating (hot cocoa, anyone?), but all throughout the Main Street plazas will be various holiday postcards on display from local non-profits and school groups, known as the “Poinsettia Postcards”!

The many wonderful Downtown merchants will also be getting into the spirit of things with “Window Wonderland” by transforming their window displays into various Christmas and wintry scenes.  Not only do you get to stroll along and enjoy these lovely creations but you also get to vote for your favorite merchant display!

And like Downtown, other shopping districts are offering holiday events. The Shops at Greenridge, one of Greenville’s largest outdoor malls, is hosting a celebration on Tuesday, December 7th from 5-9pm. There your children can take their photos with Santa, while parents can enjoy giveaways, live holiday music, and food trucks (including a chocolate food truck). Haywood Mall is offering PET photos with Santa! If you want Fido to pose with Saint Nick, show up on November 28th. You can also schedule reservations for your children to meet and take photos with Santa here as well. Their Santa photo event is running until Christmas Eve at 5PM.

If you can’t get enough holiday music, The Greenville Symphony is hosting Holiday At Peace program at the Peace Center. The show features holiday favorite music as well as International Ballet as special guests. There are 3 showings this year, from Friday December 17th to Sunday, December 19th. You can purchase tickets and learn more about the show at the Peace Center’s website – PeaceCenter.org.
