The Work of Boutique Architect Keith Summerour at The Cliffs Communities and The Reserve at Lake Keowee

Many of the most distinctive buildings in the communities in which Justin Winter & Assoc. | Forbes Global Properties sells are the designs of architect Keith Summerour.

Summerour and Associates began in 1991 as an Atlanta-based firm, and gained popularity in the communities on Lake Keowee by a reputation based upon their bespoke, unique, and eminently enchanting designs.

With a philosophy of maintaining the relationship between inside plan and natural setting and a focus on outdoor living spaces, Summerour was the perfect choice for an area of such great natural beauty and a four-seasons climate. Influenced by English and French vernacular architecture, the designs are traditional, historic, and yet timeless. Characterized by the use of stone, salvaged wood, slate, wavy-edged siding, unique roof angles and European accents, each edifice is distinctive yet instantly recognizable as a “Summerour design”.

Many of our listings are the product of Summerour’s artistic vision. From his first designs at The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, his desirability as an architect spread to the Keowee Falls communities (with designs appearing in both Keowee Falls North and Keowee Falls South), to The Cliffs at Keowee Springs, and to the The Reserve at Lake Keowee.

At The Reserve, evidence of Summerour’s talents reaches its zenith on the lake, as the developer selected Summerour to design the Reserve’s fitness centre, pool pavilion, the Great Lawn homes, Orchard Cottages, community post office, market and chapel. The chapel at the Reserve at Lake Keowee is of particular note, as Summerour’s interpretation of ecclesiastical architecture is truly sublime. A bell tower, wood-lined walls, a small “cloister” area, or meditation garden and upper balcony marry a variety of traditional religious architectural styles.

Summerour bespoke designs are often available for sale through Justin Winter & Assoc. | Forbes Global Properties in both the Cliffs and The Reserve communities, and are always denoted as such in our listings.
